Working under the direction of the Town Administrator, the Purchasing and Community Development Coordinator performs several tasks associated with core functions of government.

Iin the area of purchasing, the Coordinator serves as a central purchasing agent for Town Departments to ensure cost effective purchasing in compliance Massachusetts General Laws governing procurement of municipal supplies, goods, services and construction projects.

In the area of Community Development, the Coordinator develops, coordinates and administers grant funded programs that enhance town revenue sources and provide services that the Town may not have funding to implement.

The Coordinator is also responsible for tracking the work of the land use Departments, Boards and Committees, such as the Planning Board, Zoning Board of Appeals, Inspectional Services Department, Conservation Commission, Board of Health, Open Space Committee, Affordable Housing Committee and Historical Committee, in order to act as a facilitator in coordinating land use development activities in Topsfield.
